What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the format Apple devices use for photos since iOS 11 (2017). Under the hood it's a HEIF container with HEVC compression: about half the size of an equivalent JPEG at the same quality — great for your storage, not so great for compatibility.
Outside the Apple ecosystem, HEIC is a headache: Windows asks you to buy a codec just to preview it, and many websites and forms reject it. Converting to PDF turns your photos into a document that opens everywhere — and merges several shots into a single file.
